The Motorola g100 offers photographers a solid set of features. The wide-angle module shows average image quality. The 64 MP resolution is rarely worthwhile and only in bright light. Used as a normal focal length, the wide-angle camera cuts a good figure in good light and thus helps to take better portraits. The ultra-wide-angle module only performs moderately even in the best conditions.

Wide angle (main camera) – 1.7/4.8 mm lens

(35mm equivalent: 26 mm), 48 MP sensor,

The wide-angle camera has a 64-MP-QUAD sensor, which leaves the choice between the maximum or the reduced 16-MP resolution. On all three measured brightness levels, the 16-MP JPEGs score higher overall than the 64-MP JPEGs. The latter do not achieve a large resolution advantage even in a lot of light. The image quality of the 16 MP images is on a decent level for wide-angle cameras of this resolution class in a lot of light and first decreases moderately when the light fades (200 lux). Artifacts and noise are also only really annoying in night shots. The pictures are then pixelated and lose drawing - but remain on an acceptable level.

Since the g100 doesn't have a tele camera, it uses the center area of the main camera sensor when zooming. Since the high resolution offers reserves for this, the wide-angle module can be used well as a dual zoom or portrait camera in a lot of light. The image quality of the dual zoom quickly deteriorates in diminishing light: Structures are increasingly smoothed out and artifacts increase.

Super wide angle – 2.2/1.7 mm lens

(35mm equivalent: 13 mm), 16 MP sensor, JPEG with 16 MP

The super wide-angle camera can earn a place in the midfield of the competition. It mainly owes this placement to its performance in a lot of light (5000 Lux). In less light (200 Lux), the details are softened, the resolution decreases, and noise is added. Already here, it is better to choose the wide-angle camera.
