The Vivo X60 Pro trumps with a very good wide-angle camera that should best shoot with 48MP in high light and with 12MP in low light. The 2x zoom convinces well in a lot of light, but already shows first weaknesses in light darkness. The super-wide-angle also needs enough light for decent pictures.
Wide angle (main camera) – 1.5/4.7 mm lens
(35mm equivalent: 26 mm), 48 MP sensor, JPEG with 48 or 12 MP
The main camera offers photographers a choice between 48MP and 12MP images. The former lead narrowly in points - our score is therefore based on 48MP JPEGs. In high light (5000 lux), the lead of the 48MP JPEGs is visible, but as the brightness decreases, the gap narrows and the darker the ambient light, the more the 12MP shots win. At night, we advise switching to 12MP.
In high light, the 48MP JPEGs deliver high resolution, but also show slight traces of noise reduction, which is not problematic. In low light (200 lux), the artifacts increase. Here, the signal processing already works a bit more skillfully in the 12MP pictures, which it cleans up the noise without leaving any traces. The fine detail of 12MP and 48 MP images is comparable, but the former tend to win with increasing darkness. At night, they are clearly the better choice and can convince, even if not all structures are displayed smoothly. However, the 48MP night shots also reach a satisfactory quality level.
The signal processing of the wide-angle camera deserves a little praise: the optimizations of sharpness and contrast are sometimes more or less noticeable depending on the motif, but never so exaggerated that the photos would look artificial. Thanks to the higher resolution, the wide-angle camera achieves a very good image quality overall with the 48 MP pictures.
Normal focal length – 2.5/6.8 mm lens
(35mm equivalent: 50 mm), 13 MP sensor, JPEG with 13 MP
The X60 Pro has a second camera with a longer focal length of about 50 mm KB for portraits. The short tele does not come close to the wide-angle in pictures with the same image size, but it scores in bright light and even in light twilight. Since this shortens the distance "optically", the optics can be used well for portraits. In low light (200 lux), however, artifacts and noise are already quite visible. The camera then tries to conceal resolution losses with stronger edge separation. The module is not recommended at night.
Super wide angle – 2.2/2.1 mm lens
(35mm equivalent: 16 mm), 13 MP sensor, JPEG with 13 MP
The super wide-angle camera has a 13 megapixel sensor and delivers a decent image in a lot of light (5000 lux). In the center of the image, the resolution is quite high, but it drops sharply towards the edge... As the light fades (500 lux), the smoke suppression leaves increasingly more artifacts and the signal processing works more aggressively. At night, we're less likely to recommend the super-wide angle - though its images aren't completely broken. click to enlarge
